A great news!
Hänssler Classics published a new DVD of Carl Schuricht (Carl Schuricht, "Portrait", EUR 24,95).
It includes "Portrait", 4th movement of Haffner symphony, and Stravinsky's Firebird.

A breathtaking news!
As you know, there exist two recordings for Beethoven's 9th symphony with Orchestre de la Société des Concerts du Conservatoire recorded in 1958. One is monophonic and the other is stereophonic. The latter has been available only in Japan.
A Japanese, Hiro, found out that the 1st movement of each recording differs with each other. The difference is clear from the timing data [14:54 (MONO) and 15:44 (STEREO)]. Recording date is also different with each other [27-29, 31 May (MONO) and 4,5 March, 27-29, 31 May (STEREO)].
The situation is quite strange. Only the 1st movement is different and other movements are exactly the same performance except for sound quality!
This finding is triggered by a newly released STEREO CD from HMV Japan ( HMVC-7001).
If you have both recordings, why don't you try to notice the difference and send your impression to the webmaster!

played by Mr. Mitsutaka Shiraishi has been released
from King International (KKCC 3003).
This CD also contains Toscanini's "Berceuse", Ansermet's "1re Marche Millitaire", Knappertsbusch's "Tarantelle", Szell's "Drei Kleine Klavierstücke", Furtwängler's "Drei Klavierstücke", and Mravinsky's 7 short pieces.

It contains most of early recordings during 1930-1940.

King International, one of Japanese major record companies, will release a CD containing piano sonata composed by Carl Schuricht. The pianist will be Mr. Mitsutaka Shiraishi and recording session will be held in May. Webmaster is excited with this news. We can meet a composer, Carl Schuricht!

Webmaster has received 2 CDs set from IMG Artist (7243 57513029). It is one of "Great conductors of the 20th century" series.
It contains Mendelssohn's "The Hebrides" overture, Schubert's "Unfinished", Mozart's Haffner symphony, Beethoven's sym.1, and Bruckner's sym.8. They are all issued from EMI and DECCA previously but sound quality has been improved especially Bruckner's 8th.

Webmaster received a two-CD set of Inge Borkh published from Gala (GL 100.543).
It contains also Beethoven's Fidelio, Weber's Euryanthe, Cherubini's Medea, Wagner's Der Fliegende Holländer, Verdi's La Forza del Destino, Aida, Schilling's Mona Lisa, Giordano's Andrea Chénier, Bloch's Macbeth, R. Strauss' Die Ägyptische Helena, and Menotti's Der Konsul with numbers of conductors and orchestras.

A new CD will be published from HANSSLER (FASZINATION MUSIK 93-019).
It is a collection of Wagner's musics played by Schuricht and Stuttgart RSO.
All of the titles included have been published previously from Archiphon and other labels but a Japanese dealer suggested that better sound quality would be expected.

It is Bruckner's 7th symphony played by Schuricht with the Orchestre National de France on 11 September, 1963.
