2000年9月8日に、STS-106の飛行を目指し、スペースシャトルアトランティスは軌道に打ち上げられた。 ミッションの目的は進行中の国際宇宙ステーション(ISS)の建設と、供給のフライトの実行であった。 アトランティスは次の2日間を、ずっと軌道を飛行中のステーションに追いつくのに費やしていた。 この出来事が起こったとき、国際宇宙ステーションISSyはまだ無人だった、長い待たれたサービスモジュールであったが、最終的に、2000年7月に到着した。 このミッションでは、乗組員は2000年7月に、プロトンロケットブースターによって打ち上げられたズベズダという真新しい機械船(星という意味のロシアの単語)と、ザリャーモジュール(日の出という意味のロシアの単語)との間の最終的な重要な接続をさせた。


On 8 September 2000, Space Shuttle Atlantis was launched into orbit, initiating the flight of STS-106. The purpose of the mission was to carry out one in an ongoing series of flights to build and supply the International Space Station (ISS). Atlantis spent the next two days catching up with the station, sailing along in its orbit. When this incident took place, ISSy was still unmanned, although the long awaited Service Module, had finally arrived in July 2000.On this mission, the Crew made the final critical connectons between the Zarya module(Russian word for 'SUNRISE') and the brand new service module named Zvezda (Russian word for 'STAR'), which was lauched atop a Proton booster in July 2000.

The First Expedition crew launched atop a Soyuz rocket, from Baykonur Cosmodrome, on 30 October 2000.

Approximately 18 hours into the flight, the Canadarm was being run through a series of tests to prove it's readiness for the work to come. At this point, something strange became evident in the view. Now this was NOT recorded by me from live NASA Select TV transmissions. It was sent me in November 2001 by a person working inside NASA at the time. For obvious reasons, this person must remain anonymous, for his/her own protection. I have been "sitting" on this footage for three years to protect this brave individual. Enough time has now passed that I believe it safe to bring it forward now.

My source graciously mailed two six-hour VHS tapes to my home, containing a number of things, mostly mundane. There were, however, a few nuggets of material which defied explanation in reality. Naturally, NASA has an explanation for EVERYTHING, regardless of whether or not it makes sense. Just like the Air Force Project Bluebook "swamp gas" explanation for a series of 1966 U.F.O. sightings in Michigan.

For this case, NASA says the object is the MOON. I propose to demonstrate on this page that this explanation is absurd. The Moon was a waxing gibbous ( a "fat" moon, between half and full ) on the date of the event, 9 September 2000. We are given no information about WHERE Atlantis was over the face of Earth when this all happened, so we cannot establish the actual position of the Shuttle in relation to the Moon.

したがって、その行動がゆっくりしているので多かれ少なかれ目立たない。 しかし、動きが元の速度の10倍以上まで加速されるとき、これが月でないことは明白になる。 それは、弧を描かれた軌道を描き、完全な停止をする! そして、オブジェクトはアトランティスのほうへゆっくりした下降を始めた。もっとあります。 しかし、静止画像と動くGIF画像を調査するとき、問題を取り上げるつもりだ…



At first blush, the Moon explanation might be taken as truth. The film segment was captured from the original NASA video tape, by my contact, using a software program called Hypercam. For this reason, the image is smaller than we are accustomed to at Project P.R.O.V.E. 　Because the sequnce runs 2 minutes 47 seconds, the object in question moves like the hand on an analog clock; so slowly that it's behavior is more or less not noticeable. BUT, when the motion is accelerated to more than ten times original speed, it becomes obvious that this is NOT the Moon. It describes an arced trajectory, and comes to a complete halt! Then it begins a slow descent "toward" Atlantis.

Note how the light seems concentrated upon the crew cabin and the arm. WHY and HOW I don't know. But it is very strange. Atlantis was still well over a day away from rendezvous with ISSy. The space station was, at this point in time, many thousands of miles/kilometers away. And ISSy was still uninhabited at this time in any case, so there would not have been anyone operating a floodlight from aboard, even IF Shuttle were nearby. So, we are left with no explanation for this blinding, and seemingly DIRECTED light, and there is NOTHING known in the vicinity to cast a shadow. This light situation is a real mystery in itself.
