CandyCandy Goods

Don't you often see Candy Candy goods around, recently ?
Straps for cell phones, sweets, towels, lunch boxes, jigsaw puzzles
or stationaries... You might have bought them remembering
your old Candy Candy days.
You might also have seen Candy pictures being sold at galleries

Unfortunately, they are all made and sold illegally.

There are the reasons why Ms. Kyoko Mizuki and Ms. Igarashi,
the two authors of Candy Candy are in lawsuits against each other.
*see "circumstances" for more information about the lawsuits

Many of Candy Candy goods in the market are with "?
Kyoko Mizuki and Yumiko Igarashi.
But the fact is none of them are produced with
the permission of Ms. Kyoko Mizuki, the story writer for Candy Candy.
According to Ms.Mizuki's message on her own web site, SHE HAS NEVER
BEEN NOTIFIED ABOUT THE PRODUCTION AND SALES OF CANDY GOODS
while she legally owns half of the copyright for the famous cartoon.

February, 1999, the Tokyo District Court prohibited Ms. Yumiko Igarashi
to make Candy goods without Ms. Mizuki's permission because
Candy was created by THE COLLABORATION OF MS. MIZUKI and MS.IGARASHI.
The goods sales should be stopped since they were made without Ms. Mizuki's permission.

Ms. Igarashi appealed.
But the result was also the same in the Tokyo High Court.
The Tokyo High Court refused to hear the appeal.

Ms. Igarashi appealed again...
Now we are waiting for the judge in the Supreme Court.

Unfortunately, Ms. Igarashi still keeps selling Candy goods,
even though the production should be suspended
since she is currentlyinvolved in the lawsuit.
Nonetheless, some of goods production companies are
saying 'the lawsuit is settled' and are trying to sell new Candy products
to stores. Even worse is that some consumers were told
the price would be much higher because the goods would
be unavailable in the future due to the lawsuit.
These goods are sold not only in Japan, but also in Hong Kong,
Taiwan and Singapore.

We are still investigating what kind of goods are being
produced right now.

ILLEGAL GOODS AND GOODS MAKERS

Currently, the only legal Candy product is the 9 comic books published by
Kodansha, Japan.

Other products are made illegally against the author Ms. Mizuki's willing.
Also against OUR WILLING because we agree on the idea Candy's created
by the collaboration of Ms. Mizuki and Ms. Igarashi.

Allegedly, some goods production companies have filed lawsuits against
Ms. Igarashi for cheating them by telling them that the legal battle was
already settled,
so they can produce the goods.

Yes, it's up to you to buy or not to buy the illegal goods.
But please remember, some of the products are very poorly made
or ridiculously expensive.
We hope you won't be cheated by these law-breaking production companies
selling bad quality goods.

To settle the lawsuits earlier, we should stop buying the illegal
Candy goods to make them give up producing and selling
fake Candy goods.
We believe that once the lawsuits are settled, we will be able to
get LEGAL CANDY STUFF AT REASONABLE PRICES again....

To help out Ms. Mizuki's lawyers, let them know any information
about the illegal Candy or Georgie goods you come across.
