DJX-1 Effects And A Sequencer:

Recording PSRD1-DJX Effects settings to an external sequencer.

The PSRD1-DJX transmits MIDI control messages for the CUTOFF and RESONANCE knobs.

These performance knobs can be recorded to an external sequencer but these effects cannot be recorded to the internal sequencer of the PSRD1-DJX. The CUTOFF and RESONANCE knobs can add effects to the song recorded to an external sequencer.

To experiment with them try the following settings:

1) Keyboard: Set Local = OFF, Access FUNCTION 84 by pressing the [FUNCTION] button and typing in 84 on the number pad. Wait a few seconds and the DJX will display the current Local setting. Press the [-] button to set Local OFF.

2) Sequencer:
Set MIDI ECHO/THRU= ON. Usually, this setting is under Settings, MIDI Setup, or MIDI Thru/Echo in your sequencer program's menu.

3) Sequencer: Set Track 1 to MIDI Channel 1.

4) Sequencer: Go to the MIDI setup menu of your sequencer and set the MIDI IN and MIDI OUT devices as: 'MIDI for External MIDI port', 'MIDI for MPU-401 Interface', or 'SB MIDI IN/OUT'.

NOTE: The computer settings may differ, these are the most common driver settings.

5) Sequencer: Make sure that the MIDI filter on the sequencer is NOT filtering out MIDI control messages from the recording. MIDI Filter settings are usually found under 'Project Settings', 'MIDI Filter', 'Recording Settings', etc.

6) Sequencer: Before recording, try playing the keyboard and moving the knobs to verify that the MIDI Echo is enabled in the sequence.

7) Sequencer: Press the [RECORD] button on the external sequencer.

8) Keyboard: Select the desired voice by typing in the voice number on the PSRD1-DJX and then play the keyboard (Sequencers vary, you may need to allow 2 or 3 measures to set this up).

NOTE: The arpeggiator transmits via MIDI. The ASSIGN knob can also be transmitted and recorded via MIDI.

Below is a list of the effects that can be assigned to the ASSIGN knob and the controller messages that are transmitted.

These effects can also be assigned to:
