Boost Build System V2

Synopsis

Boost.Build is a system for large project software construction, which is simple to use and powerfull. Boost.Build V2 is an onging project to rewrite Boost.Build, improving design and making it more extensible. The distinguishing features are:

Boost.Build は大規模ソフトウェア開発プロジェクトのための、シンプルで強力なシステムである。 Boost.Build V2 とは Boost.Build のデザインを改善しより拡張性のあるものを作り出すために Boost.Build を書き直そうとする現在進行中のプロジェクトだ。 Boost.Build V2 の特徴は :

• Simple and high level target description language. In most cases name of target and list of sources is enough.
• シンプルで高いレベルのターゲット記述言語。　大抵の場合、 ターゲット (target) の名前とソースの一覧を書くだけで十分。
• Variant builds. You can build with your choice of basic variants (e.g. debug, release, profile...), toolsets (e.g. gcc and msvc) and specific properties (e.g. inlining off) from a single command invocation.
• Variant builds。 基本的な変数(例えば debug、release、profile...)や ツールセット (toolsets)(例えば gcc や msvc)、特別なプロパティ (specific properties) (例えば inlining off) を一度のコマンドの実行で選んでビルドすることができる。
• Portability. ``Feature Normalization'' allows to fine-tune targets independently from the toolset used, and modular toolset descriptions are employed to generate actual build instructions.
• 移植性。 ``フィーチャー正規化 (Feature Normalization)'' は ツールセットモジュールの記述で有効なビルド命令を生成して使用するようにすることで、 ツールセットに依存しないものに調整することを許す。
• Multi-project builds. Several projects can be combined and built together, with dependencies correctly tracked. Typically, the setting (like include paths and defines) needed to use other project will be handled automatically.
• マルチプロジェクトのビルド (Multi-project builds)。いくつかのプロジェクトを、 依存関係を正しく持ってきてまとめて一緒にビルドできる。 他のプロジェクトでも使う必要のある(インクルードパス (include paths) や マクロ定義 (defines) のような) 設定に大体は自動的に対処できる。
• Extensibility. New file types and tools can be easily added
• 拡張性。新たなファイル形式やツール (tools) を容易に追加できる。

Status

Enough of the core functionality is implemented to allow practical use on medium-size projects. Several compilers and tools are supported, the full list is available here. The list of features still to be implemented is outlined in the develepment plan.

中規模プロジェクトで実用できるぐらいの中心的な機能性は十分に備えている。 サポートされているコンパイラ (compilers) やツールの全リスト。 まだ出来ていないものについては 開発計画 (develepment plan) を参照のこと。

Dowloading

The most up-to-date sources are available in tools/build directory of Boost CVS. Please use "Boost CVS Repository" section in the download instructions.

最新のソースは Boost CVS の tools/build ディレクトリにある。 ダウンロード説明 (download instructions) の "Boost CVS Repository" セクション(節)を参照のこと。

Boost.Build releases are also available. There's zip archive, and tar.bz2 archive of the current release. Older releases are available from the SourceForce download page.

Boost.Build にはリリースもある。現在のリリースには zip アーカイブ (archive) や tar.bz2 アーカイブ がある。古いリリースも SourceForce のダウンロードページ から入手できる。
